News from the ISL Media Center
Dear ISL Families, We realize that it is very important for children to develop their Mother Tongue, and we are pleased to announce that the Mother Tongue section in the ISL Media Center currently accommodates books in 15 languages, including Latvian, Russian, German, French, Japanese, Polish, Swedish, and Spanish.It is our ultimate goal to provide every child with an opportunity to visit the school library and check out books in their Mother Tongue.Therefore, as you are cleaning out your closets in view of the summer, please see if there are any books in your native language that you would like to donate to ISL. We would be happy to take them! Also, we would highly appreciate if while visiting your home country during the summer holidays your family could choose one book in your Mother Tongue and bring it back to donate to ISL Media Center.

The Media Center boasts an extensive collection of books and audiovisual materials. You can browse through the titles using the ISL Online Library, which can be accessed through the school's website; see the user instructions!

We are happy to announce the most recent addition to the ISL Media Center - Kurzweil 3000!
 
 

This is a reading, writing, and study skill support software that enables struggling readers in grades 3 and above to learn from the same content as their peers.

Many students have difficulty reading for a variety of reasons. Their inability to read fluently at grade level means they are unable to learn from class and curriculum content. For these students, Kurzweil 3000 can be life changing. It provides multi-sensory access to virtually any text or curriculum, including print, electronic, and Web-based material; so students learn from grade appropriate content, develop valuable study skills, and become independent learners.

The program also features Google translator, American Heritage® Human Pronunciations, and English and Spanish picture dictionaries!
